Program Length and Duration
Los Angeles Career College with Clinical Externship program includes 510 hours of curriculum plus a 130-hour clinical externship for a total of 640 hours and is designed to be completed in 4 months of full-time study. However, the online format allows you to study on your own schedule and at your own pace, so your enrollment includes 12 months of program access to ensure that you have the time you need to complete your training.

Los Angeles Career College’s Medical Assistant Program is designed to help you prepare for a rewarding career in the healthcare industry. Upon completion of the program you will be eligible to work in a medical office, clinic, HMO or other healthcare settings.
Externship Program
Los Angeles Career College has partnerships with local doctor’s offices to help you fulfill your externship requirements. The externship program offers the chance for students to gain experience in medical assistance that will make them more employable. Students will complete their externship before they graduate—smoothing the transition from classroom to workplace and helping to cement the skills they’re learning in the training program with hands-on experience.
Certification and Licensure
Program graduates are eligible to take the Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) Exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) test through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) to become Certified Medical Assistants.
NHA CCMA Exam details:
- 150-question test (30 – pre-test questions)
- 3 hours to complete
- Can be taken at the LACC or at a PSI Testing Center near you
- May be administered online or on paper
NCCT NCMA details:
- 150-question test (15 – unscored questions)
