Hospital Fire & Safety Course Description

Los Angeles Career College is offering a Hospital Fire Safety course for individuals working in various health fields. The Hospital Fire Safety class fulfills Los Angeles Fire Code requirement that all employees of acute care hospitals, psychiatric facilities, convalescent homes, and skilled nursing facilities within the boundary of Los Angeles City be trained in fire safety and possess a valid fire safety certification card. Fires can and do happen just about anywhere. This Fire Safety Training course will give you a good understanding of fire safety, including an understanding of the variety of elements that can come together to make a fire, including static and electrical discharges, friction, vapor pressure, chain reactions, and flash points. This is important because if you can understand various ways a fire or explosion can occur, and have the knowledge to mitigate these circumstances, this will go a long way in creating a safer work environment for you, and those around you. In addition to the topics outlined below, this course also covers various types of firefighting equipment and their proper use, as well as proper storage of flammables and combustibles, and liquefied petroleum gases.

Upon successful completion of the course students will be issued either Blue Fire Card, which is valid for 4 years, or Pink Fire Card, which will be valid for 2 years. Both cards meet the requirements of Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Hospital Fire and Life Safety Program.
